Notes
Eromen: In Ancient Greece, and eromen is a teenager compromised in a
relationship with an adult man, called erastes.
Erastes: An erastes was generally an influential citizen of the upper
class. In addition to becoming the friend and lover of the boy, the
erastes acquired a status similar to that of a male relative of the
boy and was responsible for his education, especially his military
     training.

EDIT: I didn’t liked where the plot was going so I deleted everything
and started from zero. Only the introduction in chapter 1 was what I
recycled, I really loved this AU and I refused to let it go, so
     enjoy?
See the end of the work for more notes
For males of the same tribe or family there is little value to each other when
danger threatens; but a battalion founded by friendship based on love will
never be broken and will be invincible; for the lovers, ashamed not to be
worthy in the sight of their loved ones and the beloved before the sight of
their lovers, are willing to throw themselves into danger for the relief of one
                                   another.

                            MEMORIES OF KRUL TEPES
I remember it very well, it is the only memory that I will never forget since
it was what built my future life forever.
The sky was painted blue as always, it was the afterglow of a battle that would
mark Macedonia and Thebes forever, where their soldiers would never be
forgotten.
The sky was beautiful compared to the ruined battlefield; the bodies of both
bands lay on the ground, surrounded by their own decomposing blood, like dry
leaves that could not withstand the harsh arrival of winter and dropped once
reddened. The emblem of Thebes was dotted in the blood of its own soldiers, it
was on the ground, right where it belonged. Where it always belonged.
I walked among the fallen bodies of my enemies while the pleasure of victory
and revenge enveloped me, causing a great rumble of euphoria to cross my body
but I was not satisfied; I felt proud by eliminating the best soldiers of
Thebes but there was something that did not fit in me, a certain discomfort to
see the expressions of these men crossed through my features. Notice how some
of them were still traversed by our swords and although they lost, they died as
if they had won their last victory. The roar of their cries still sounded in my
ears; cries of pain, of happiness, accompanied by heavy tears, and broken
smiles, with teeth full of blood—
I dedicated myself to look for a specific body among the three hundred
bastards. I needed to see his face just before he died.
The foul odor of the bodies was not strong yet since the battle was over no
more than an hour ago and the blood was the only odor that dominated so I could
walk among the remains without having to cover my nose. It would be easy to
find him, the bastard tended to take off his helmet in mid-battle and his hair
was easy to identify.
A couple of minutes went by and I finally located him in the distance. His body
was at the center of the battle; like the animal that he always was, his chest
was against the ground, one of his legs was contracted while the other was
stretched out, both hands had been clawing at the dirt. His last action was to
drag his dying body through the dirt.
When I saw his face, I did not feel anything. No guilt, no anger, no sadness,
no happiness. While seeing how his skin was paler than normal, seeing the blood
clotted on his face, seeing his pale and battered lips I felt nothing. Not even
the hint of hatred that I thought I would feel to see how the life of his blue
eyes was gone forever.
Mikaela Shindo, the man who dragged me into the fiery hell called Thebes
against my will for more than ten years was finally at my feet, maybe he was
not killed by my own hands but he was finally dead.
"Captain Shindo, see that your sacred band was murdered ... but, why did all of
them look so desirous to die? Why didn’t they flee when the opportunity
presented itself? They are not cowards ... that’s more than clear, what I do
not understand is why there was so much love and pleasure when they were
impaled by metal. What madness have you done in this men’s brains... Why
Shindo? Why, why, why—
"Krul." My brother appeared at my side, his face distorted in disgust at the
sight of the corpses. I knew it was not because of the blood, I asked why.
"Just look at them," Asuramaru said with hatred and wonder in his voice, "They
fought like beasts, they knew they would not live ... but when they died, they
seemed grateful. Accepting death as an old friend, "Asuramaru said, shoving
Mikaela's hand with his foot while we both saw him with pity, as if the poor
man were still alive and begging at us.
Asuramaru followed the direction of the hand and frowned more, "He wanted to
die protecting that one." He pointed to a body a few feet from us, in front of
Shindo, and without much interest, I turned to see where my brother was
pointing.
At first it did not seem like such thing, but the more I saw it the more I
noticed it.
Mikaela Shindo did not died to protect that black-haired soldier, he crawled
through the earth to die with him, his hand stretched out, trying to reach the
younger soldier but failing miserably.
My brother muttered something about honor perhaps, something about the infamous
soldiers of Thebes who were lovers who had no decency on the battlefield, nor
in their sexual appetite, who were more animals than people, but Asuramaru was
not in Thebes for a decade. He did not witness who they really were and I would
be lying if I said that their love was not the purest and most genuine I ever
witnessed.
I curse Mikaela Shindo, who is now in the underworld with his soldiers and I
see him running and kissing that boy he loved more than war and his own life. I
curse him because his last breath, along with that of two hundred and ninety-
nine more, left something in my chest that I myself can not recognize.
I raised my sight of the tragic lovers and at last I appreciated the whole
landscape; the lances and arrows nailed in the earth and in the bodies, the
opposing colors waving silently. The sea of armor and shields, and finally, I
saw the faces of these soldiers; youths and adults, most lying next to their
respective lover, I assumed.
I could not keep seeing Shindo, it made me nauseous. So I turned to my horse.
My brother looked expectant while we walked. What did he wanted me to say?
The remaining soldiers— quite a favorable number—began to gather in front of me
when they saw me mount but I did not departed immediately. I was static looking
at all of them. Observing their faces, their expressions, the line of their
ages and I found myself comparing them with the massacred soldiers of Thebes.
Then I observed my brother who was confused and kept waiting for my words. Our
scarlet eyes met.
I opened my mouth to speak.
